They want to be helped to figure out what small changes they can implement in their daily lives that will have a quick & positive impact on them. When a person is overweight, unhealthy & doesn't feel well - they don't want to be told to get 7 minutes of sunlight, facing east, to start every day. So what does this mean for marketers? Why am I writing about this?Īs a healthcare marketer, one of the biggest mistakes I see is that most founders don't recognize that most of their customers are turned off by messaging that feels complicated, is prescriptive & doesn't speak to them. Eating real food & eliminating the junk They need to learn how to build healthy habits, including: In reality, 93% of Americans don't need to optimize their lives with perfect routines, including grounding their circadian clocks, utilizing red light therapy, or buying expensive tools for recovery. when in reality, most of these individuals are building for the 1% - not the masses. Founders look up to Huberman, Attila, Rogan, etc. In healthcare marketing - there is so much attention to the folks with the biggest audiences & the most significant budgets. We're so focused on the noisiest folks in the room that sometimes we forget who we're building for. #adagency #startup #partnership #teamwork Nothing else matters if you're not a good partner. To become such a good partner, that your clients can't imagine you not being in their lives. Your job is to become a strategic partner for your clients. Your job is not just to click the buttons in ads manager. And being a good partner& communicator is a part of the job. They don't make the effort to understand our problems, they are poor communicators and they're not friendly."ĭear ad agencies - the bar is not that high, but you've missed the memo that marketing is a people-first industry. □♂️: "It's not that they're not doing what they're saying they're doing. □♂️: "Dan, we've been working with an ad agency for the past few months & it's not working" Being fat is hard. This week, three startups shared with me their negative experiences of working with external ad agencies in the DTC space. Yes it's hard, yes it sucks, it never stops sucking. You're the only one that will make or break you. There is no try, because everything you will or will not do is not dependent upon who is looking at you or what your schedule is like. Walking at a snail's pace because you don't want to exert yourself is retarded, it's a waste of your time, money, and space. If you aren't breathing hard, go the fuck home. If you're going to go to the gym, work the fuck out. What ticks me off are people that use every excuse not to commit to what they supposedly want. Not because I want to be, because I have to be.īut you know what? If you got time during your work out to think about how you look or what other people might be thinking, you aren't working out hard enough. I'm still not, which is why I'm there 5 days a week. Don't act like I didn't go through the same shit. Any time I see anyone sweating their ass off at the gym that was my size, all I'm thinking is "You go girl". I don't judge you while you're working out, and I hate that sorry ass excuse. ![]() This in turn makes me less homicidal when I want to run and it also saves you your gym membership money, because let's face it.by February you're not going to step foot in this gym again anyway.įuck you. Just resolve to not go to the gym and spare yourself the misery. Let's make 2010's New Year's Resolution something we can both enjoy. ![]() You take up all the machines, going at a snail's pace, while reading Harry Potter and drinking a Starbuck's frappacinno. Your presence makes my life miserable too. You made this resolution because a) After a month and a half of cookies and rich food, you were feeling fat in your New Years Eve cocktail dress, and b) You were drunk. ![]() More importantly, you don't want to be there. You don't wash off the machines you sweat all over. You and your hundreds of similarly minded friends drag yourselves reluctantly into the gym at peak hours. This month every year sucks for both of us.
